Why Rape Is Committed? Or The Psychology Of The Rapist Part 1.

It is such a complex question with multiple dimensions that not single one line answer is possible. In stead of addressing to this question in the beginning of discussion, we should try to summaries and define this question in the end. Perhaps that would be more accurate and appropriate answer to this question The State of World Population Report suggests that In India a rape is committed every 54 minutes, Molestation every 26 minutes, kidnapping or abduction every 43 minutes such heinous crimes and crime mentality is growing with leaps ad bounds. But to speak of developing country like India

even in highly industrializes nations like u.s.a the crime is growing. The crime of date rape has increased significantly in the past few years. Rape is a crime not only against the body of an individual but also against one’s mind, psyche and reputation. The rapist can be questioned only if he is caught but the victim of rape or raped girl / woman is questioned and ridiculed at every step by every strata of the society. The victims have experienced that the police is merely spectator or often reluctant to lodge their complaints. Even if the complaint is lodged, against the rapist the justice is far from being delivered. In courts circumstantial evidence is highly relied upon and is taken as confirmatory evidence. The defense lawyer always supports the theory that the intercourse was with mutual consent. He left no evidence to prove it as mutual action. The women victims are forced to prove that it was really forced rape. The onus is on the woman to prove his innocence. The women are asked to lay every slight detail of the incident which may not be possible keeping in mind the modesty of woman. Mostly the facts are presented in an inappropriate manner which often leads to the acquittal of the accused. In traditional society like our Indian society, the raising of voice of protest against any crime of sexual orientation is considered a taboo. Many girls have witnessed oppression from their own family members in such instances. A rape victim needs a lot of courage to bring the matter into notice. Generally this is what he totally lacks after the rape incident. But the agony does not end here. It is continued at every stage whether it is medical treatment, lodging of F.I.R
or even attending a trial. The entire system is harsh to woman.
.Many sociological and psychological connotations are attached to this question .let us start from the opposite line. Why rape is not committed. Rape is not committed when our relationship with others and society are in harmony. These relationships are based on mutual understanding, love, affection and sympathy and empathy. There is no dichotomy in society and relationships when these sublime emotions and relationships area taken by hatred, suspicion, jealousy and misunderstanding, treacherousness than mutual harmony and coordination is broken and Egoism selfishness and megalomania take over them. The elasticity and piousness of human relations is taken by consumerism and ego centricity. There is total chaos and commotion in society. The whole social fabric has become corrupted and polluted. The disorder in society gives way to anarchy and the disorder in body gives way to mental disorders like schizophrenia and bipolar disorders. Rape is not single isolated incident of society rather it is the reflection of total society picture as a whole. Rape incidents that are reported are just the tip of the iceberg. Rape is a type of sexual assault or coercion usually perpetrated by wicked, selfish and sadist persons devoid all human decency and diligence and conscientiousness involving forced sexual intercourse. The act of sexual coercion is initiated by one or more persons against another person without that person's consent or willingness. The act may be carried out by physical force, coercion abuse of position or authority or with a person who is incapable of valid consent .The person who commits an act of rape is known as rapist The United Nations defines it as "sexual intercourse without valid consent. The definition of rape varies from person to person and from nation to nation. Broadly speaking it is defined in many jurisdictions as sexual intercourse or coition, or other forms of sexual penetration, of one person by another person without the consent of the victim or against her wishes. The World Health Organization defined it in 2002 as "physically forced or otherwise coerced penetration – even if slight – of the vulva or anus, using a p***s, other body parts or an object “In this social scenario and social set up and background let us try to understand the rape psychology now
